Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: Up to £62,272 per annum inclusive of fringe allowance

Hours: 36 hours per week

The Role:

Principal Property Lawyer

This role is the Council’s expert in land and property law, providing professional advice to officers and members, and guiding the legal direction of the service.

The responsibilities include:

  • Advising on residential and commercial conveyancing, drafting leases, licences, rent reviews, and notices under the Landlord and Tenant Acts
  • Handling land/property acquisitions and disposals for the Council
  • Leading conveyancing and property law matters, coordinating legal actions, and instructing external support as needed
  • Participating in project groups to advise on property law issues

Candidate requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, Legal Executive, or equivalent
  • Experience with complex land transactions
  • Proficiency in drafting commercial leases, licences, rent reviews, and notices under relevant acts
  • Experience with residential property agreements and deeds such as easements and covenants
  • Advisory experience on regeneration projects and licensing hearings (training provided if necessary)
