Job summary

Spinwell Ltd is recruiting a Principal Project Planner to support the Transpennine Route Upgrade programme, based in Leeds with hybrid working (3 days in office: Tue-Thu). You will lead planning and scheduling across the NR PACE lifecycle, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and engaging with stakeholders.

The role requires strong communication, leadership and experience in major construction projects, railway design principles, and experience reading Railway Access box plans alongside

Spinwell is recruiting for a Principal Project Planner for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PRINCIPAL PROJECT PLANNER

Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a programme of activities that is improving the railway between York and Manchester via Leeds and Huddersfield.

Stretching across the North of England between York and Manchester, this key 76-mile Transpennine railway serves 23 stations, crosses over and dips under 285 bridges and viaducts, passes through six miles of tunnels and crosses over 29 level crossings

It is the largest railway upgrade in the country. The programme runs across multiple control periods and will deliver transformational changes to the current railway.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE PRINCIPAL PROJECT PLANNER

• Strong communications skills, able to explain planning and scheduling outputs to non-planning personnel.
• Demonstrate leadership of teams and developing others.
• Examples of simplifying complex / detailed programme for reporting purposes
• Understanding of railway design and delivery principles, experience in reading Railway Access box plans alongside schedules
• Experience in early stage project development (ES1–ES3) within the NR PACE lifecycle
• Experience within the construction & delivery phase (ES4–ES8) within the NR PACE lifecycle
• Experience in stakeholder management.
• Strong experience in integrating multiple schedules
• Experience working with train and freight operator projects
• Demonstration of Rail planning and scheduling experience
• Demonstrate an understanding of constructability of projects / programmes
• Membership of a relevant professional body and/or have a CPD established to attain membership
• Relevant successful experience in the management, planning and scheduling of delivering major construction/engineering projects.
• Relevant successful experience of proprietary software planning and scheduling tools
• Previous knowledge and expertise within the field of project resource management.
• Good information technology user skills.
• Knowledge of automating schedule / project data
• Experience in Development of delivery strategies and developing delivery/ output schedules
• Experience in reviewing construction staging and providing feedback.
• Experience/Knowledge of reviewing Schedule Assurance narratives
