As a Principal Project Manager / Data Center, you'll be responsible for:

Primary Responsibilities

The main goal of our Principal Project Manager / Data Center is to ensure that the processes involved in commissioning engineering services systems are diligently and accurately planned, managed, executed, and recorded.

  • Ensuring our commitments to clients are delivered on time with the required level of detail and quality.
  • Utilizing the company's management systems to achieve objectives.
  • Providing consultative advice on commissioning and performance requirements, strategies, programs, and scopes of work.
  • Proactively advancing commissioning activities throughout the project cycle in collaboration with the General Contractor and Vendors.

Additionally, at all times, you will:

  • Engage with team members to improve systems and procedures.
  • Take on the role of Champion in a specific technical area.
  • Promote the company and group through marketing activities.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Working safely and in compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Working diligently, efficiently, and professionally.
  • Ensuring technical compliance and high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborating with clients and contractors to develop commissioning strategies aligning with project goals.
  • Adopting internal management systems to ensure proper commissioning of building services.
  • Monitoring project finances and controlling expenditures.
  • Attending meetings and preparing detailed reports.
  • Developing commissioning management documents and procedures.
  • Providing technical feedback on drawings, manuals, and submittals.
  • Creating project-specific method statements and test scripts.
  • Reporting on project scope changes and evaluating progress and costs with the team.

General duties include:

  • Arranging test instrumentation for testing activities.
  • Supporting tender development.
  • Completing timesheets accurately weekly.
  • Supporting colleagues proactively.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor's Degree in engineering or equivalent; extensive project management experience is essential. Membership in CIBSE, ASHRAE, or similar is advantageous.
  • At least 5 years of experience in project or commissioning management within building services. Familiarity with quality and environmental policies, and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong communication skills, enthusiasm, client focus, flexibility, resilience, and leadership qualities.
  • Self-motivated, dynamic, professional, and committed to continuous self-improvement.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Dedicated to exceeding client expectations and spotting opportunities for service enhancement.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, building supportive relationships.
  • Confident communicator, attentive to detail, and responsible for personal skill development.
  • Innovative, adaptable to change, and capable of motivating others.
  • Effective decision-making skills and outcome focus.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Willingness to travel to site locations as required.
  • Experienced engineer, licensed PE or field technician with strong understanding of MEP systems, HVAC controls, and T&B processes.
  • Good computer skills, including MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with design documentation, multidisciplinary design delivery, and construction services.
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, systems engineering, operations, contracting, and business operations.
  • Understanding of project accounting and financial management tools.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and handle multiple tasks.
