Job summary

Leonardo UK in Southampton seeks a Principal Security Engineer to embed product security across the lifecycle of defence technologies. You will define requirements, guide teams on security standards, and develop processes to manage risks and resilience.

The role involves working with security specialists to ensure compliant, secure solutions that protect missions. The ideal candidate has hands-on RMF experience, is adept at interpreting assessment reports, and can drive continuous improvement in

Qualifications

• Experience with ISO27001/27004/27005 and NIST RMF.
• Security risk management experience for regulated products (aerospace, nuclear, etc.).
• Understanding of engineering lifecycles and security alignment.
• Ability to interpret Penetration Test Reports and support remediation.

Responsibilities

• Define and manage product security requirements across projects.
• Develop and implement security processes and tools to stay ahead of threats.
• Produce and maintain security artefacts (risk assessments, threat analyses).
• Drive security assurance across the product lifecycle and ensure secure-by-design solutions.
