Principal Process Safety Consultant, Sheffield

SLR is seeking a Principal Process Safety Consultant to work across client sites in the UK and occasionally abroad. The role involves a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Development of new and existing services based on client and industry needs.
  • Development of process engineering standards, manuals, methodologies, and procedures.
  • Conducting audits and reviews of client practices to ensure compliance with documented procedures and good practices.
  • Interfacing with various functional groups to resolve process safety issues, including site management, engineering, operations, and health and safety.
  • Onsite surveys of chemical process plants to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
  • Performing hazard identification and risk assessment studies such as HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA.
  • Providing process engineering expertise for design, engineering, and EHS projects.
  • Leading strategic development projects and supporting marketing efforts.
  • Building and maintaining client relationships, acting as a strategic point of contact.
  • Contributing to client sustainability and growth through cost-effective solutions.
  • Engaging with third-party suppliers to deliver comprehensive services.
  • Ensuring quality, cost, and delivery meet client expectations.
  • Leading multiple projects and fostering a collaborative working environment.

Candidate requirements include: Chartered engineer status with a degree in chemical or process engineering, experience with process plant design principles and standards, knowledge of relevant legislation (especially COMAH and DSEAR), excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team. Experience with regulation of COMAH is advantageous.
