About Our Client

Our client are a leading emerging market-focused, independent impact investment manager specializing in financial inclusion, agri-food value chain, and safe drinking water. They are an AIFM licensed fund manager, advising and managing close to $ USD in assets. Their global team is close to a hundred and spread across multiple geographies in Europe, Africa, and Asia. As they expand their focus in Asia, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Principal, Private Equity (Asia) to lead their efforts in the region. The firm is guided by a mission to promote inclusive progress and sustainable transitions.

Job Description

The Principal, Private Equity will play a pivotal role in advancing their strategy by driving investments in the safe drinking water sector in Asia. You will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing investment opportunities while collaborating with a diverse team of professionals committed to sustainability. The role reports to the Deputy Fund Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deal Sourcing and Execution: Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities in the water sector, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable agriculture.
  • Investment Strategy Development: Formulate and implement investment strategies that align with their mission to support innovative climate solutions.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the Asian climate landscape.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, present investment proposals to the IC to align with fund objectives.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the performance of portfolio companies, providing strategic guidance to enhance growth and impact.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent the firm at industry conferences and events, contributing to discussions on climate investment trends and best practices.

The Successful Applicant

  • Proven experience (8+ years) in private equity or venture capital, with a focus on climate, climate tech or sustainability sectors.
  • Strong understanding of the Asian market dynamics related to water, infrastructure, or sustainability.
  • Demonstrated ability to source and execute complex investment transactions successfully.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a track record of conducting in-depth market research.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% and a passion for solving real world problems in underserved markets.
