An ambitious and forward‑thinking Local Authority in Hampshire is looking for an experienced Principal Policy Planner to join their team on a fixed‑term contract through to March 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a policy planning professional with strong local plan experience and an interest in shaping the future of major regeneration projects. The team is passionate about delivering high‑quality places and progressing a dynamic planning agenda.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to the preparation and delivery of the Local Plan
  • Provide expert policy advice to internal teams, councillors, and external stakeholders
  • Input into regeneration schemes and town centre strategies
  • Support evidence base development and policy monitoring
  • Represent the council at public consultations, hearings and external meetings
About You
  • Proven experience in planning policy, ideally within a local authority setting
  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system and local plan process
  • Exposure to or experience with regeneration projects
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and lead on complex policy matters
  • RTPI accredited or working towards accreditation
