Greater Manchester is at the forefront of innovation to transform the lives of local citizens. Our vision is to make Greater Manchester one of the best places in the world to grow up, get on and grow old.
As part of our public service reform and devolution journey, we are stepping up our ambitions for public services and prevention. We are looking for someone who has a firm grasp of the challenges facing public services, can work across various policy areas (social care, health, employment, housing, children, adults, communities, etc.), and can link the national and GM context to frontline delivery.
The role will provide high-quality policy leadership and development, supporting GM's strategic direction around the delivery of public services, reform, and prevention as part of GM Live Well. The post holder will be responsible for developing GM-wide policy related to public services, prevention, and Live Well GM, focusing on formal public services and system enablers at both GM and national levels.
This role involves working across all GM localities and supporting outward-facing work related to public services and reform across MCAs and future devolution initiatives around prevention and public services.
This includes contributing to the delivery of the GM Growth and Prevention Plan and the Live Well delivery Plan. The post holder will also work as part of the wider Live Well GM team and Reform Directorate, leading key aspects of implementation that translate strategic ambitions into tangible on-the-ground changes.
To achieve GM's ambitions around Public Service Reform, Prevention, and Live Well GM, the role requires building strong relationships and working across stakeholders at local, GM, and national levels, including GMCA directorates, NHS GM, GM LAs, GMP, VCSFE, other MCAs, national think tanks, and UKG where relevant.
As an employer, GMCA includes key strategic functions and service providers such as GMFRS, Waste and Resources, Environment, Work and Skills, Research, Public Sector Reform, Police, Crime and Criminal Justice, Homelessness, the Greater Manchester Ageing Hub, and the Commissioning Hub.
