The JP Personalization and Core Shopping team works to help customers discover the best of Amazon using data and insights to invent, test, and scale programs that drive shopper engagement. We invent on behalf of the customers to create the most personalized, inspiring, and frictionless discovery and shopping experiences on Amazon.co.jp.

We are seeking a Principal PM Tech, Personalization to make product discovery more personalized for customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work backwards from JP customer needs, create and accelerate both long-term strategy and short-/medium-term priorities for personalized product discovery as a critical lever to drive customer satisfaction and revenue/profit growth.
  2. Drive high impact product launch with Japan and WW tech partners and influence long-term technical decisions that transform site experience at scale.
  3. Deliver critical site experiences improvements that drive significant impact at scale.
  4. Create efficient working model with WW partners to accelerate local innovations at scale.
  5. Evangelize and influence senior leadership (VP+) in critical decisions across Amazon Japan's Shopping Experience.
Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Strategic vision and roadmap: think big and strengthen a culture of bold bets to innovate on behalf of JP customers. This role will drive conversation and strategic review at senior leadership level (VP+) on both long-term and near-term vision, goal and priorities for Shopping Experience for Japan, and align support for and bring visibility to progress, outcome and evolution of plan in this critical growth pillar for Amazon.
  2. Deliver results: strengthen an agile, fail-fast Day One culture and create a strong flywheel between results, learnings, and new bold bets. This role will lead critical two-way-door decisions and establish quick learning cycles of product tests to make sure Amazon Japan be at the forefront of Shopping Experience technology and innovations.
  3. Organizational influence: this role will be critical in forming efficient working models and partnership with both WW and JP dependency/partner teams, to drive the right Shopping Experience decisions across LoBs in Japan outside of the role's direct reporting line.
A Day in the Life
  1. Works on documenting the 3-5-year strategic vision for personalizing the website experience for Amazon JP. Aligns with partner product teams.
  2. Work on documenting product design and requirements, working with Research / Business Intelligence teams to deeply understand customers and their needs. Communicates plans to large audiences, including senior leadership.
  3. Work with Engineers and Scientists to deliver product roadmap. Facilitates discussions to make difficult trade-offs decisions (e.g., UX functionality vs. latency) and influence others to support.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. 7+ Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
  3. Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  4. Experience technical product management
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements
  2. Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement
