Principal Planning Officer, Somerset
Pay rate £25.11 per hour
Contract role, Local Government Planning

Main Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Process major planning applications and make recommendations
  • Prepare reports, including proofs of evidence for appeals, and present evidence at hearings, public inquiries, and court proceedings
  • Provide information and advice to businesses, the public, and stakeholders about legislative requirements and standards for planning compliance
  • Valid driving licence and own transport, or alternative suitable travel arrangements, are essential

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience with complex areas of Development Management
  • Honours degree in Town and Country Planning or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of legislation, policy, regulations, and professional codes for Development Management
  • Ability to present information confidently at Public Inquiries and meetings
  • Ability to manage own work and assist colleagues in meeting deadlines
