Job summary

Kent County Council is seeking a Principal Planning Officer in Development Management to lead complex minerals and waste development proposals. You will manage a varied caseload, assess schemes, prepare reports, and represent the Council at planning appeals.

The role requires RTPI chartered status or eligibility, a planning degree, strong development management experience, and the ability to engage with applicants, consultees and Members across Kent. Hybrid working arrangements apply.

Qualifications

• Degree in planning or related environmental or legal discipline.
• Chartered Member of RTPI or eligible for Chartered Membership.

Responsibilities

• Manage minerals and waste development caseload including major developments.
• Support determination of infrastructure projects and associated reports.
• Prepare and present reports to Members and Planning Committee; represent at appeals/hearings as required.
• Mentor and quality assure junior colleagues; provide technical guidance.
