Job summary

Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council are seeking a Principal Planning Officer to shape two communities through major and minor schemes, guiding thoughtful growth while protecting local character.

You will mentor Planning Officers and Assistants, handle a diverse caseload, and lead pre-application discussions, enforcement, and high‑quality decisions. The role supports remote/hybrid work and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Full Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
• At least three years of planning experience, including one year in Development Management.

Responsibilities

• Lead meaningful conversations at the pre-application stage and manage a diverse caseload of major and minor schemes.
• Champion high‑quality development and ensure a clear, fair service for residents and applicants.
• Defend decisions through the appeal process and lead planning enforcement to safeguard the environment.
• Mentor Planning Officers and Planning Assistants to support development of skills and careers.
