Job description

Principal Planning Officer - Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire

Pay Rate: £29.22 per hour (PAYE) – Reference: OR7363

This role involves supporting the delivery of the Development Management Service within Pembrokeshire's policy framework. The aim is to ensure land development is appropriate and that the natural, built, and historic environments are conserved.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Process a wide range of planning applications, including large-scale proposals, related notifications, and applications in specialist policy areas.
2. Prepare reports for committee on non-delegated applications and for the Interim Head of Planning on delegated applications.
3. Exercise delegated powers to determine specific categories of applications and perform other delegated functions as specified by the Chief Planning Officer / Director of Community Services.
4. Provide statutory and non-statutory pre-application advice through a fee-based service, assessing proposals against relevant policies and considerations.
5. Assist and advise case officers to develop their knowledge and share expertise.
