Job description

Principal Planning Officer needed in Knowsley - Paying £30.42 per hr, ref 1517327

Full-time hours on a temporary basis

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and process complex planning applications, including major developments.
  • Provide professional advice on planning matters to stakeholders, including developers, the public, and elected members.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to ensure compliance with planning policies and regulations.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for planning committees and other decision-making bodies.
  • Represent the council at public inquiries, hearings, and meetings.
  • Mentor and support junior planning officers, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Stay updated on changes to planning legislation and policy, ensuring the council’s practices remain compliant and effective.
Ideal Requirements:
  • Degree in Town Planning or a related field.
  • Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or eligibility for membership.
  • Significant experience in a planning role, with a strong understanding of planning legislation and policy.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid UK driving license.
