Our client is looking to recruit a Principal Planning Engineer for a contract until April 2026.

Location: Warrington, Cheshire
IR35 to be determined

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Planning team under the direction of the Project Controls Manager and develop and maintain good working relationships with the Client and colleagues.
- Control, monitor, analyze, and report schedule-related aspects for designated projects within a portfolio and liaise with the Commercial and Project Controls teams to produce key project schedule metrics.
- Ensure all changes to the baseline on a project are understood and managed appropriately.
- Monitor Project Risk and Change status to maintain current schedule forecasts.
- Liaise with project team members and contractors regarding progress and forecasting, providing 'what-if' analysis as needed.
- Monitor, control, and analyze project schedule information, identify variances, and report to the Project Manager with possible alternatives. Prepare reports for challenge and analysis.
- Challenge schedule variances against the baseline plan with task leaders/contractors and stakeholders to enable mitigation.
- Manage your duties during absences, handing over responsibilities to an agreed delegate.
- Understand the inter-relationship between time, cost, and commercial aspects of the project lifecycle.
- Experience across the project and programme lifecycle, including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning, and Handover.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining project planning procedures and producing schedule reports.
- A creative and innovative approach to problem-solving, with extensive experience in data collation, report preparation, supplier schedule processing, and applying company procedures.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Confidence and ability to influence.
- Proficient in interpreting Earned Value Analysis.
- Excellent MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for report and information preparation.
