Westlakes Recruit is currently recruiting for a Principal Planner on a contract basis (outside IR35 considered). Candidates should ideally be based in Manchester, with hybrid working supported.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the Planning team under the direction of the Project Controls Manager, developing and maintaining good relationships with the Client and colleagues.
  2. Control, monitor, analyze, and report schedule-related aspects for designated projects within a Portfolio. Liaise with the Commercial and Project Controls Teams to produce key project schedule metrics.
  3. Ensure all changes to the baseline are understood and managed appropriately.
  4. Monitor project risks and change status to maintain current schedule forecasts.
  5. Coordinate with project team members and contractors regarding progress and forecasting. Provide 'what-if' analysis on schedules as required.
  6. Monitor, control, and analyze schedule information, identify variances, and report to the Project Manager with possible alternatives. Prepare reports to facilitate challenge and analysis.
  7. Challenge schedule variances against the baseline plan with task leaders, contractors, or stakeholders to enable mitigation.
  8. During your absence, hand over duties to an agreed delegate.
  9. Understand the inter-relationship between time, cost, and commercial aspects of the project lifecycle.
  10. Experience across the entire project and programme lifecycle, including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning, and Handover.
  11. Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining project planning procedures and producing schedule reports.
  12. Approach problems creatively and innovatively; extensive experience in collating information, preparing reports, processing supplier schedules, and applying company procedures.
  13. Strong analytical skills and confidence to influence stakeholders.
  14. Proficient in interpreting Earned Value Analysis.
  15. Excellent MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for report preparation.
  16. Experience working in highly regulated environments.
  17. Membership in a professional institution such as APM or similar is preferred.
