About the Role:

As a Principal Planner, you will be at the forefront of processing and negotiating highly complex and high-profile planning applications. Your expertise will shape the future of our community, providing invaluable advice and recommendations that drive successful planning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Take charge of strategic development casework, from pre-application advice to processing high-risk applications.

  • draught well-written delegated and committee reports that set out coherent and robust recommendations based on relevant policies.
  • Represent the team at the Planning Applications Committee and in planning appeals, articulating complex issues clearly and confidently.
  • Coach and mentor team members, enhancing their skills in technical and people-related matters.
  • Proactively identify issues and propose innovative solutions to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay updated on relevant legislation, advising on changes and implementing best practises.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience in planning, negotiation, project management, and customer service.
  • Strong knowledge of planning legislation and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Exceptional presentation and report writing skills.
  • Ability to build and nurture relationships both internally and externally.
