We are looking for an expert strategic Principal Project Planner to join our team in Beckton - East London.

As a Principal Project Planner, you will develop a Programme Strategy for clients and apply the necessary processes and techniques that are vital for strategic planning and the success of a project.

A Principal Planner will utilize commercial awareness and expertise in different contract conditions to develop strategic plans that maximize opportunities for Laing O'Rourke.

What will the role look like?

  1. Ensure all programmes comply with project requirements and develop a logical sequence of events, adopting the most economical/advantageous construction strategy.
  2. Provide planning input to tenders.
  3. Lead planning and coordination processes.
  4. Implement and maintain the project business plan requirements.
  5. Ensure programme compliance with project requirements.
  6. Provide expert input to adopt the most economical/advantageous construction strategy through collaboration.
  7. Analyse performance, advise the project team on impacts, and recommend improvements.
  8. Contribute to risks, opportunities, and commercial implications of tender bids.
  9. Present time-related material effectively using various techniques and methods.
  10. Carry out pre-contract planning and work-winning processes to produce bid programmes and related information.
  11. Apply commercial awareness and contract expertise to develop strategic plans and advise on forensic analysis of programmes.
  12. Train and mentor others on contract planning processes.
  13. Contribute to procurement process development and strategies.
  14. Manage contracts for complex projects independently.
  15. Perform forensic analysis of programme data and build relationships with client teams.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  1. Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar.
  2. CIOB Membership.
  3. Experience with Modelling, 4D planning, Asta, or P6.
  4. Experience in pre-contract planning and work-winning processes.
  5. Development and maintenance of contract programmes.
  6. Implementation of strategic planning and programme management systems.
  7. Ability to analyze data for reporting and forecasting.
  8. Ability to prioritize tasks and assess accuracy requirements.
  9. Lateral thinking skills to identify trends/issues in production data.
