A forward-thinking local authority is seeking an experienced Principal Planner to join their Development Management Team. This exciting contract role involves managing a diverse caseload of major applications, leading negotiations, and ensuring community benefits align with the Council's regeneration objectives. With flexible home working options, you will only need to be in the office two days a week. Our client is a Local Authority which is looking for an experienced Principal Planner to join their Development Management Team for a contract role.
You will manage a varied caseload major applications, including residential, major commercial and/or other complex or controversial projects.
You will lead on the negotiations for these applications from pre-application discussions through to application submission and decision and associated submission of conditions post decision, ensuring community benefits are secured and the Council's regeneration objectives are met.
To apply for this role you will need to be a degree qualified Town Planner with a strong development management background. You will need to be comfortable managing your own caseload and have extensive experience of working on complex minor applications and major applications as lead officer, with an understanding of s106 agreements and viability negotiations.
Experience of the above with pre-application enquires, as well as experience of discharge of planning conditions and post decision enquires is required and needs to be demonstrated on your CV.
This role is based in Merseyside but our client does offer flexible home working. You will need to be in the office 2 days a week. Attendance at planning committees for your applications will be required.
Our client is offering up to £40/hr umbrella and this role is inside IR35. It will initially be offered for 3 months but there is potential for it to be extended beyond this.
