A little more about your role…

Liveable Places work with a wide range of local authority & private clients from across the UK to help them achieve their place making ambitions. We deliver a wide range of schemes from concept to delivery that include public realm, traffic engineering, road safety, traffic signals, pedestrian / traffic modelling, active travel, and parking. We have had recent key successes with Westminster City Council, West Sussex County Council, East Sussex County Council, Leeds City Council, Cambridgeshire County Council, Richmond Council, Croydon Council, Redbridge Council, West of England Combined Authorities, National Highways and many, many more.

The Liveable Places team is based in offices across the country with over 200 staff, currently making up the team with further growth planned. This role is within our dynamic team of 70 people, and we work closely with a number of teams across our mobility service line. We enjoy our work and are exceptionally enthusiastic people who are great at what we do. We have a strong track record working closely with our clients and this role provides a great opportunity to have a pivotal role within Liveable Places and help support and steer its growth going forward.

We are seeking either a Principal or Associate to be based out of London Office who can:

  1. Work directly with our clients to achieve their sustainable transport needs;
  2. Project and Programme manage cycle and walking projects, sustainable drainage, public realm and safety schemes. These projects are likely to range from £500k to £10m in budget and are typically transformational, high profile schemes.
  3. Work to WSP's internal processes which are ISO accredited including responsibility for projects budget and financial performance;
  4. Be ‘client facing’ and provide updates and assurance as required;
  5. Manage resources across the project and programme ensuring integration with a range of other internal industry experts including those in carbon, drainage, lighting, structures and modelling;
  6. Work collaboratively with the Liveable Places team, colleagues in our Mobility team and the wider WSP business to achieve our aims and objectives;
  7. Actively contribute to work winning with other team members;
  8. Opportunity to people manage or mentor more junior members of staff if desired.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

  1. A civil engineering degree, transport planning degree or equivalent;
  2. Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (desirable);
  3. Proven ability to lead and manage project teams and individuals;
  4. Transport, traffic signals, road safety and highway engineering experience;
  5. Good spoken and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise with others including public sector officials, members of the public and other senior colleagues;
  6. Optional extra: Experience in Road Safety Audits could be an additional area of work.
