The Sustainable Water Management team operates nationally, sharing work fairly and transparently, considering personal interests and development aspirations. As a senior team member, you will be involved in the growth, development, and resourcing of the team.

Our Liverpool team includes 8 water environment and flood risk professionals working with regional teams across the North West and nationally. We seek colleagues experienced in delivering Flood Risk Assessments to provide technical leadership and mentoring. Our portfolio includes major projects like Mersey Tidal Power, HyNet North West, and East West Rail, with clients such as National Grid, Network Rail, and National Highways. We also support Local Authority clients with flood investigations, risk management strategies, and planning reviews.

We are looking for a Principal or Associate Consultant experienced in managing, coordinating, and delivering flood risk assessment projects, capable of leading technically complex projects for various clients.

The successful candidate will work seamlessly across technical areas within the Sustainable Water Management team, including flood risk modelling, LLFA services, flood management solutions, Water EIA, WFD assessment, permitting, geomorphology, and BNG.

Your work will focus on Flood Risk Assessment for major infrastructure projects in the UK and abroad, involving flood modelling, flood management, and Water EIA, with responsibilities spanning technical, managerial, and commercial aspects. Mentoring team members will also be key.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing projects effectively, balancing schedule, budget, and quality, while adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Providing technical guidance and training to junior staff.
  • Contributing to the growth of WSP’s technical capabilities and developing new client services.

  • Proven track record in delivering complex, high-profile projects under the UK’s Development Consent Order regime.
  • Strong knowledge of UK flood risk planning regulations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and experience managing client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Practical project management skills, including budget and team management, with the ability to handle challenging projects.
