Principal Nuclear Safety Assessor

Location: Flexible (Your office can be in Cumbria or Cheshire), Hybrid / remote working also available

Sector: Nuclear Safety, Risk & Engineering Consultancy

A consultancy firm operating in the nuclear and high-hazard sectors is looking to expand its specialist Risk and Safety team. They are seeking a Principal Nuclear Safety Assessor to lead the delivery of complex safety projects and provide technical direction across a range of high-profile nuclear assignments.

This is a permanent opportunity with flexible working arrangements, ideal for experienced professionals who thrive in both technical and leadership roles and want to contribute to nationally significant safety and infrastructure work.

As a Principal Nuclear Safety Assessor, you'll be responsible for delivering and overseeing the production of safety case documentation, guiding junior team members, and maintaining strong client relationships. You'll work closely with engineers and safety specialists in areas such as Human Factors, Fire Safety, Radiological Shielding, and Criticality.

What you'll do:

  1. Lead hazard identification workshops (e.g., HAZOP).
  2. Develop structured safety case arguments using Claims/Arguments/Evidence (C/A/E) techniques.
  3. Produce and manage safety documentation across all stages of projects.
