About the Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Principal Nuclear Environmental Consultant to join our Radioactive Waste Management Consultancy. Due to rapid growth in the civil nuclear waste management and environment sector, we require support to deliver and expand our expertise.

We lead in waste strategy, inventory, and compliance for radioactive waste, spent nuclear fuels, and nuclear materials. We support clients with site end-state decision-making and environmental activities. Our projects span the UK and internationally, including Norway, Central & Eastern Europe, and Japan.

We seek a motivated Principal Nuclear Environmental Consultant to support our growth. You will lead technical directions, providing environmental support to site operators and new build clients. This role offers opportunities for career development and team leadership.

Flexible working arrangements are available, with the role based in Harwell, Cumbria, Scrabster, Birchwood, or other locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply your knowledge to environmental aspects in site operations, waste management, and decommissioning challenges.
  • Lead or support consultancy projects for UK and international clients.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance through environmental permitting, management systems, and other activities.
  • Develop documentation for GDA Environmental Submissions and contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Support site-end state development, land quality projects, and data analysis.
  • Lead proposal development and client relationship building.
  • Contribute to business development and strategic planning.
  • Mentor and train team members.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in environmental, physical science, or engineering.
  • Significant relevant experience, including technical topics listed above.
  • Knowledge of nuclear site permitting and regulations.
  • Experience in bid leadership and proposals.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • People skills for training, workshops, and stakeholder engagement.
Desirable Qualities
  • Chartership or working towards it.
  • Technical leadership recognition.
  • Experience managing environmental aspects on nuclear sites.
  • Willingness to travel internationally occasionally.
