Job summary

London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) in London seeks a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to drive architecture, governance and scalable ML delivery across a matching platform.

You will lead design of data pipelines, feature stores and inference services using AWS SageMaker, while mentoring engineers and ensuring regulatory‑grade explainability and security. This highly technical, leadership role offers broad impact and growth.

Qualifications

• Proven track record architecting and delivering production ML systems at scale in enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise with AWS SageMaker (training, processing, pipelines, endpoints, registry) and complementary AWS services.
• Expert-level Python and ML Model frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost).
• Strong thought leadership in MLOps automation, CI/CD for ML, and model lifecycle management.
• Advanced experience designing explainability systems, reason codes, and governance artefacts.
• Experience shaping ML security practices, including cross-account IAM, data minimisation, and PII-safe design.
• Ability to influence architecture, mentor senior engineers, and set long-term technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end ML architecture for the matching platform (data pipelines, training, inference, telemetry).
• Lead MLOps adoption and SageMaker capabilities across training, processing, registry, monitoring, deployment.
• Collaborate with security and data teams for scalable feature architecture and ML governance.
• Set engineering standards for model quality, observability, and resilience.
• Architect automated training/deployment/retraining pipelines using SageMaker.
• Design low-latency inference services and cross-account model consumption.
• Own telemetry design including scoring metrics, latency, and SLOs.
