They have secured a framework with South West Water, serving 1.8 million customers across Cornwall, Devon, the Isles of Scilly, and parts of Dorset and Somerset. The multi-million-pound AMP8 contract runs for five years until 2029, with the potential for a further five-year extension — offering plenty of work!

The Role

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you'll work on projects that significantly improve water and wastewater treatment systems. You will play a key role in shaping the mechanical functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects.

From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure all mechanical aspects are meticulously considered and integrated. Your key duties will include:

  1. Lead and oversee the design, planning, and execution of mechanical engineering on projects
  2. Provide design support and guidance for schemes, ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and comply with current legislation and standards
  3. Collaborate closely with commercial, operational, and construction teams to develop efficient, practical, and safe solutions throughout the design stages, construction, and beyond
  4. Engage positively with clients, managing relationships, and adopting a one-team approach to support their objectives
  5. Manage interfaces and integration of process design with other disciplines, including the production of documentation

What you’ll need:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Chartership (CEng) with a relevant Engineering Institution
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards applicable within the water and wastewater sector
