Principal Mechanical Engineer | London (Hybrid)
Lead innovative, low-carbon building design with a clear path to Associate level
Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 (dependent on experience)

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking to take a leading role in the delivery of sustainable building projects? This is a brilliant opportunity to join a growing, design-led consultancy where your expertise will help shape technically ambitious, low-energy developments across a wide range of sectors.

What you will do

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will:
  • Lead mechanical design across projects from early concept through to completion
  • Coordinate closely with clients, architects and multidisciplinary teams
  • Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers
  • Contribute to internal quality, design standards and knowledge sharing
  • Support business development activity and help shape project strategies
  • Design and deliver low-energy mechanical systems aligned with net zero goals

What you will bring
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership with a recognised institution
  • Typically 8+ years’ experience in mechanical building services design within the UK
  • Proven ability to lead projects and coordinate across disciplines
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, ventilation, thermal modelling and low-carbon technologies
  • Experience delivering projects across all RIBA stages
  • Confident leadership, communication and mentoring skills
  • A proactive, design-focused mindset with a passion for sustainable engineering
