Harley Haddow in Glasgow is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead and deliver the Mechanical Services design on major projects from concept to completion. You will manage project teams, supervise junior engineers and ensure high quality across design and post-contract stages.
The role requires strong communication with clients and design teams, robust technical knowledge of MEP systems, and the ability to programme, control fees, and drive QA processes within a medium-sized consultancy

Purpose
As a senior member of the department your responsibilities will include the delivery and project management of the Mechanical Services Design on assigned projects. You shall also ensure that you have a high-level understanding of all other major MEP projects and offer support andassistancewhenrequired. You shall alsobe responsible formaintainingand improving the quality and efficiency of the Mechanical Services design and post contract implementation offered by Harley Haddow. You shall have a supervisory role over junior engineering staff assigned to you and your projects and shallassistin their personal development both in their education and their technical experience.
You shall be expected to act as the lead consultant on projects providing M&E representation and input at key stages throughout theproject to other members of the project team as well as ensuring that the M&E requirements are communicated and delivered within Harley Haddow.
The position demands excellent communication skills; you will be representing Harley Haddow through direct contact with clients and other design team members. You are expected torepresentthe company at meetings in both Mechanical and Mechanical Services disciplines.
You shallcommencecarrying out wider management duties as part of your role within the business. This will include the programming of work, managing your own and other workloads, ensuring critical deadlines are met, ensuring QA is undertaken swiftly and consistently, you will be the point of contact between the engineering staff and the senior management and will be expected to provide team updates as and when required.

Strategy setting and Concept Design as part of RIBA Stage 1, 2 & 3 Design Process.
Detailed Design as part of RIBA Stage 4 production.
Software – Advantageous but not required
Expert in the use of all necessary design software not limited to thoseidentifiedbelow
Post Contract Implementationin line with RIBA Stage5, 6 & 7
