Principal Mechanical Design Engineer (Water)
We are recruiting multiple Principal Mechanical Design Engineers (Water) for major frameworks across the UK, including a £100 million framework with United Utilities to improve river health in Northwest England.
RPS has over 20 years of collaboration with United Utilities on innovative water projects. As we approach AMP8, this is an exciting time to work in the water industry, creating positive change through passionate collaboration.
Within this 10-year framework, RPS will optimize programs, develop solutions, and select the best options based on value, carbon footprint, and cost, aiming to deliver exceptional water services and foster a resilient, eco-friendly Northwest.
About The Team:
Our Water Consulting team comprises Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy services, supporting business planning and delivery for water industry clients. Innovation and teamwork are key to meeting industry challenges.
We work with several major water companies across the UK, managing a broad portfolio of long-term frameworks. Our projects are leading into AMP8 and beyond, offering long-term career stability and impact.
About You:
You should have experience producing technical outputs like specifications, pump and aeration system designs, schedules, and reports. Familiarity with collaborative planning, design reviews, and safety assessments is essential.
You will contribute to design outputs such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong communication skills for client presentations, technical workshops, and safety reviews (including HAZOPs and ALMs) are required. Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and infrastructure assessment is important.
