RPS has over 20 years of collaboration with United Utilities on innovative water projects. As we approach AMP8, this is an exciting time to work in the water industry, creating positive change through passionate collaboration.

Within this 10-year framework, RPS will optimize programs, develop solutions, and select the best options based on value, carbon footprint, and cost, aiming to deliver exceptional water services and foster a resilient, eco-friendly Northwest.

About The Team:

We work with several major water companies across the UK, managing a broad portfolio of long-term frameworks. Our projects are leading into AMP8 and beyond, offering long-term career stability and impact.

About You:

You should have experience producing technical outputs like specifications, pump and aeration system designs, schedules, and reports. Familiarity with collaborative planning, design reviews, and safety assessments is essential.

You will contribute to design outputs such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Strong communication skills for client presentations, technical workshops, and safety reviews (including HAZOPs and ALMs) are required. Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and infrastructure assessment is important.

Joining us means contributing to impactful projects with leading organizations, leaving a lasting legacy in the UK water sector. You will be a key part of a dynamic team, working with major water companies to positively influence communities.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Engage in all project phases from feasibility to construction support, including site surveys.
  • Work on diverse projects within long-term frameworks with UK water companies.
  • Liaise with project managers, clients, supply chain, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Support and mentor junior team members and review technical designs and reports.
  • Understand technical drawings using AutoCAD or Inventor.
  • Conduct asset condition surveys and produce related reports.
  • Contribute to P&ID development and produce mechanical design deliverables.
  • Support project compliance with CDM and quality assurance procedures.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Water industry experience is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in pump system design, P&ID creation, specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of contract procurement, project management, and site visits.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar software is preferred but not essential.

Qualifications:

  • IMechE-accredited degree; postgraduate qualifications are a plus.
  • Chartered status or working towards it.
  • Membership or ongoing membership with a relevant professional body (IET, InstMC, CIWEM).
