Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL in Birmingham seeks a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design for large-scale building services. You will mentor engineers, review outputs, and ensure compliance with project requirements. Initially in the Birmingham office with a future hybrid model.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering, 10+ years of experience, and strong leadership with client-facing communication. Chartered status is desirable.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in building services mechanical design.
• Experience on large-scale, complex projects.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
• Proficiency with IES modelling and building performance concepts.
• Excellent communication with clients and stakeholders.
• Mechanical Engineering degree; Chartered status desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for large-scale building services projects.
• Provide technical guidance through project lifecycle.
• Oversee IES modelling outputs and review results.
• Mentor and support junior engineers.
• Manage a small team to meet project deliverables.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and liaise with clients.
