Job summary

RED, an expanding international M&E consultancy, seeks a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to be based in our Newcastle office. The role involves leading large projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and delivering robust engineering solutions for building services.

You will engage with clients, manage project progress, and ensure compliance with UK standards and safety requirements while developing innovative, low-energy designs for a range of building types.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• Chartered Engineer status being pursued is acceptable.
• Experience in design specification for building services.

Responsibilities

• Oversees large projects from inception to delivery.
• Leads client-facing discussions on development and design of mechanical/electrical services.
• Develops specifications for controls, instruments and operating systems.
• Surveys and tests existing installations and prepares reports.
• Ensures compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Provides technical liaison with clients and contractor teams.
