Qualifications

Role: Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Dorset, United Kingdom

Type: Permanent

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

My client designs and manufactures specialist equipment and precision parts. They are seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Dorset on a permanent basis.

Ideal candidate attributes:

• At least 5 years of experience in a CAD Design / Mechanical Development role
• Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ)
• Knowledge of machinery, robotics, rotating equipment, and precision components
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.
• Strong theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge with attention to tight tolerances
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and within a small, multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities:

• Design using CAD, produce technical drawings
• Reverse engineering, product development, testing, and prototyping
• Collaborate with manufacturing providers
• Participate in final product assembly
• Prepare design documentation, project reports, and plans
• Update 3D models and drawings
• Input parts into MRP system and create BOMs
• Review drawings for approval
• Work on varied projects within a small team
