Role: Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Dorset, United Kingdom

Type: Permanent

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Job Description:

My client designs and manufactures specialist equipment and precision parts. They are seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Dorset on a permanent basis.

Ideal Candidate Attributes:
  • At least 5 years of experience in CAD Design / Mechanical Development
  • Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Knowledge of machinery, robotics, rotating equipment, and precision components
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and understanding of tight tolerances
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a small multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities:
  • Using CAD for concept design and technical drawings
  • Reverse engineering, product development, testing, and prototyping
  • Collaborating with manufacturing providers
  • Involvement in final assembly processes
  • Creating design documentation and project reports
  • Updating 3D models and drawings
  • Managing parts in the MRP system and creating BOMs
  • Checking drawings for approval
  • Working within a small multidisciplinary team on various projects
