Role: Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Dorset, United Kingdom

Type: Permanent

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Job Description:

Our client designs and manufactures specialist equipment and precision parts. They are seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Dorset on a permanent basis.

Qualifications and Attributes:
  • At least 5 years of experience in CAD Design / Mechanical Development
  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of machinery, robotics, rotating equipment, and precision components
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.)
  • Strong mechanical engineering principles knowledge
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
Responsibilities:
  • Design and produce technical drawings using CAD
  • Reverse engineering, product development, testing, and prototyping
  • Liaise with manufacturing providers
  • Participate in product assembly
  • Prepare design documentation and project reports
  • Update 3D models and drawings
  • Input parts into MRP system and create BOMs
  • Review drawings for approval
  • Collaborate on various projects within a small multidisciplinary team
