Job description

Role: Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Dorset, United Kingdom

Type: Permanent

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Company Overview:

My client designs and manufactures specialist equipment and precision parts. They are seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Dorset on a permanent basis.

Candidate Attributes:
  • At least 5 years of experience in a CAD Design / Mechanical Development role
  • Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of machinery, robotics, rotating equipment, and precision components
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.
  • Strong theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a small multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities:
  • Design using CAD and produce technical drawings
  • Reverse engineering, product development, testing, and prototyping
  • Liaise with manufacturing providers
  • Participate in final product assembly
  • Prepare design documentation and project reports
  • Update 3D models and drawings
  • Input parts into the MRP system and create BOMs
  • Review drawings for sign-off
  • Collaborate within a small multidisciplinary team on various projects
