Job Description:

Role: Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client designs and manufactures specialist equipment and precision parts. They are looking to hire a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Dorset on a permanent basis.

Key Attributes:

• At least 5 years of experience in CAD Design or Mechanical Development
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Knowledge of machinery, robotics, rotating equipment, and precision components
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.
• Strong theoretical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and tight tolerances
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team

Responsibilities:

• Designing concepts using CAD and producing technical drawings
• Reverse engineering, product development, testing, and prototyping
• Liaising with manufacturing providers
• Involvement in final assembly processes
• Creating design documentation and project reports
• Updating 3D models and drawings
• Inputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs
• Reviewing drawings for approval
• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team on various projects
