Job summary

Maritime and Coastguard Agency seeks a Principal Consultant Surveyor - Training and Technical Performance to lead technical capability development and assurance across UK Technical Maritime Services. You will guide training design, evaluation and performance improvement while maintaining high safety and regulatory standards.

You will build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, oversee the consultancy network, and help shape national maritime safety outcomes through expert

Qualifications

• Experience developing technical capability, assuring performance and improving standards in a regulated maritime or operational environment.
• Completed MCA Surveyor Core Competencies and built strong technical knowledge through marine surveyor, maritime, engineering or assurance work.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical leadership to support safe, consistent and compliant delivery of maritime surveyor services.
• Support delivery of UKTMS business plan objectives in line with MCA policies, standards and procedures.
• Provide expert technical advice to promote consistent interpretation and application of maritime regulations and standards.
• Oversee Consultant Surveyor network and other consultancy arrangements.
• Design and deliver technical training, workshops, coaching and workplace learning activities.
• Lead audit, verification and evaluation of training to assure quality and value for money.
• Monitor activities and technical performance workstreams, including remote verifications and oversight visits.
• Analyse technical information, risks and trends to provide evidence-based recommendations.
