Job Description:

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world. Join us as a Principal FEA Engineer at one of our sites in Plymouth, Bristol, or Rosyth.

The role

As a Principal Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Engineer, you’ll lead complex FE analysis tasks, supporting product development throughout the design lifecycle using your deep technical expertise.

  • Provide technical support to key customers, ensuring efficient delivery of engineering outputs.
  • Perform analysis mainly using ANSYS, including linear and non-linear, static and dynamic, structural, thermodynamic, in time and frequency domains, and multi-physics environments.
  • Implement verification and validation processes for stress analysis and train engineers in stress analysis techniques.
  • Develop analytical methodologies for stress analysis optimization and interpret results into practical design solutions.

This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, with hybrid working: 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.

Essential experience
  • Deep professional expertise and experience in FEA.
  • Experience with ANSYS software.
Qualifications
  • Degree in engineering or equivalent qualification with extensive relevant experience.
Security Clearance

The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain SC security clearance.
