Overview

Job Title: Principal Manufacturing Engineer - Manufacturing Build Planning

Location: Barrow-In-Furness - Onsite

Salary: £47,271+ Depending on experience

What you'll be doing
  • Lead and manage a team; planning and co-ordinating their activities to meet departmental and business requirements. E.g. including responsibility for training and development
  • Undertake appropriate peer reviews e.g. Audit compliance to mandated procedures etc.
  • Act as a Technical lead for a sub-discipline area within the discipline/Project and act as an approved signatory
  • Provide supporting information to Senior Management for determining the team resourcing requirements, and to maintain the correct manning levels in line with the agreed Engineering Plan
  • Provide specialist advice, product or process knowledge, and output requirements. Utilising innovation and creativity to solve problems and implement continuous improvement
  • Manage scheduling, planning, budgets, performance, task management, delegation, activity delivery, configuration control stages and detailed gate reviews and governance of outputs prior to formal release
  • Chair technical meetings and reviews (as necessary), that support the Manufacturing Engineering end deliverables
  • Liaise with and manage stakeholders, including Internal and External customers as appropriate
Your skills and experiences

Essential:

  • Considerable understanding of engineering drawings and CAD models/Data
  • Experience engaging with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve engineering/planning issues
  • Experience of leading and managing a team of Manufacturing Engineers
  • Experience of leadership within a Manufacturing/Operations environment

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with SAP/Teamcenter
  • Understanding of submarine build strategy
  • Minimum HNC or equivalent experience in a STEM discipline would be advantageous
  • Understanding of Manufacturing Engineering systems & processes

The Manufacturing Build Planning Team

As a Principal Manufacturing Engineer, you will have significant involvement in key Manufacturing Engineering projects. You will use your knowledge and experience to guarantee delivery of Manufacturing Engineering outputs into Operations that ensure design intent can be met. The role holder will advise, coach and lead other team members as part of their daily responsibilities. Ability to report & collaborate with senior leadership within the Manufacturing/Operations Teams. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
