Job summary

Ramboll is seeking a Principal Landscape Planner to lead complex landscape planning projects from Edinburgh or Glasgow, with UK and international exposure. You will deliver robust assessments, mentor staff, and collaborate across environmental and engineering disciplines to achieve sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master's or postgraduate qualification in landscape architecture or a related discipline, ideally from a Landscape Institute-accredited course.
• Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Well-developed experience in landscape architecture, planning, landscape and visual impact assessment (wind farm experience desirable).
• Advanced analytical, problem-solving and consultancy skills with ability to develop robust recommendations.
• Ability to lead and coordinate significant landscape workstreams and manage quality and timely delivery.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards, professional practice, legislation and technical guidance.
• Excellent written, graphic, presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage workloads independently and use software including MS Office, GIS, Adobe Suite, Autodesk and/or Revit.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced landscape planning and assessment expertise to identify issues, analyse complex information and develop robust, practical solutions.
• Lead and coordinate defined landscape workstreams, ensuring outputs are delivered to programme.
• Undertake research, data collection, site visits, technical photography and landscape assessments.
• Interpret landscape and visual information to identify effects, risks, constraints and opportunities.
• Prepare and present written, graphic and technical materials for clients, stakeholders, decision-makers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and external consultants; support senior colleagues and mentor junior staff.
• Manage workloads with limited supervision, contributing to proposals, resource planning, process improvements and efficient use of professional standards and digital tools.
