Job Description:

Purpose of Job

The Principal, IT Architect is accountable for delivering aspects of the Enterprise Reference Architecture and Architecture Practice that support IT for the Bank. These architectures provide strategic guidance for all technology initiatives. The role involves defining the overall architecture and design of IT solutions, working with technical and functional specialists to develop solutions within the defined architecture.

The role primarily interacts with IT teams and engages with various business functions across the Bank.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Deliver, maintain, and communicate aspects of the Enterprise Reference Architecture (ERA) to ensure systems meet business requirements.
  • Contribute to the Architectural Knowledge Base for consistent knowledge management.
  • Promote understanding of the ERA within IT to align strategic priorities.
  • Advise project teams and facilitate practice groups to keep stakeholders informed.
  • Model and promote the Bank's Behavioral Competencies and Corporate Behaviors, ensuring high standards of integrity and ethics.
  • Provide early-stage technical guidance to projects to ensure optimal solutions.
  • Ensure solutions are technically sound, functional in production, and consider operational risks.
  • Balance short-term delivery needs with medium-term strategic goals, with clear governance for deviations.
Corporate Functions Architect

This role is the subject matter expert for solutions related to Corporate Functions delivery capability architecture, encompassing solutions and enterprise architecture. Responsibilities include leading or supporting enterprise activities, assessing current architecture, defining target architecture, advising on roadmaps, and guiding solutions. Opportunities for technical debt remediation should also be identified.

Knowledge of SharePoint Online, Power Platform, Case Management, CMS technologies, and Records Management is highly desirable. Experience with OpenText/LiveLink, SharePoint Online, Power Automate, PowerBI, Java, J2EE, and Web 2.0 & 3.0 technologies is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; Master’s preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Qualification in Enterprise or Solution Architecture.
  • Specific certifications in architecture.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Extensive experience in solution architecture across platforms and domains.
  • Broad experience in IT projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of integration techniques and technologies.
  • Ability to develop deep business knowledge and advise across IT and business domains.
  • Knowledge of contemporary IT platforms, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Experience drafting and presenting solutions to stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a mid-sized corporate environment, aligning solutions with wider roadmaps and initiatives.
  • Experience as a collaborative team member.
