Job Description

Principal Investment Officer

Since beginning operations in Beijing in 2016, AIIB has grown to 110 approved members worldwide, with a capitalization of USD 100 billion and a AAA credit rating from major agencies. AIIB collaborates with partners to meet client needs by unlocking new capital and investing in green, technology-enabled infrastructure that promotes regional connectivity.

The Project and Corporate Finance Clients Department, Global (PCF), is responsible for expanding AIIB's relationships with private-sector clients and sponsors in the infrastructure sector at senior management and shareholder levels. PCF focuses on originating and executing non-sovereign-backed financing (NSBF) transactions across various sectors, geographies, and client types, aiming to position AIIB as a leading bank for private-sector infrastructure finance.

The Principal Investment Officer, PCF, reports to the Director General, PCF, and is expected to lead and support investment projects within this business line.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and contribute to the department's business targets.
  • Originate and execute investment projects.
  • Identify, assess, and structure investment opportunities; maintain a strong project pipeline.
  • Lead project teams in conducting due diligence for investment proposals.
  • Research projects and clients.
  • Prepare and lead client meetings, including presentations, memos, and reports.
  • Coordinate internally with relevant Bank units.
  • Support the team and management in achieving targets and objectives.
  • Manage stakeholders and ensure project compliance with AIIB policies.
  • Support management and perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
  • 15-20+ years of relevant experience in corporate/project finance at commercial/investment banks or international financial institutions.
  • Master's degree or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in business administration or finance is preferred.
  • Experience in executing various financing transactions, including loans, equity, and capital market instruments.
  • Strong leadership, client engagement, financial modeling, and credit assessment skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages relevant to AIIB operations is an advantage.

AIIB values diversity and is committed to transparency and merit-based recruitment. We encourage applications from qualified individuals regardless of background or identity. Previous experience and qualifications will determine the grade and job title.
