Principal Instrument Engineer - Hydrogen Project Principal/Lead C&I Engineer - (Temporary – FEED Hydrogen Project) Location: Manchester Duration: 6 months as a minimum Rate: £60 - £75 per hour (negotiable depending on experience) Hours: 40 per week Industry: Hydrogen / Energy / Process Engineering Type: Temporary Contract Overview: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal/Lead Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to join a dynamic team in delivering a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) project for an innovative hydrogen process plant. This role requires technical expertise, leadership skills, and client-facing experience to ensure successful project execution. Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership and instrument discipline input for FEED projects.
Prepare, review, and approve engineering documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Allocate tasks and manage project deliverables against timelines and budgets. Oversee the procurement and specification of control systems, instrumentation, and analysers.
Ensure adherence to and international codes, regulations, and standards. Conduct technical bid assessments and supplier evaluations. Lead safety case preparation, including cybersecurity verification and validation activities.
Support installation planning for instrumentation in potentially explosive environments. Requirements: Degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Control Engineering (or equivalent experience). Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or close to achieving it).
Extensive knowledge of UK legislation and standards relevant to process plant engineering. Competency in instrumentation installation for hazardous areas. Strong problem-solving and leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
