About the role…
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Information Governance team at Derby City Council.
The successful applicant will help the team to advise and support internal and external customers on compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK General Data Protection Regulation. They will assist in relation to advising on Council project work which can included DPIAs, drafting Information Processing and Sharing Agreements as well as Privacy Notices.
Skills Required…
The role holder must have the following skills:
• Experience working in a similar position in local government to gain advanced theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge in all aspects of information governance legislative requirements
• An extensive and in-depth knowledge of DPA and UK GDPR
• Experience in advising on DPIAs and associated documents
• Knowledge of data security best practice including relevant cyber security issues relevant to data protection
• High level of literacy and numeracy skills for the development of policies, procedures, communications, training courses, report writing, self-assessment audits and statistical reporting
• Ability to understand and carefully analyse complex information and adjudicate on its best outcome for the Council so as to ensure legislative compliance and identification of risks to the Council
• Knowledge of and understanding of the workings of the Information Commissioner's Office in terms of its role, the sanctions it can apply etc
• Experience of advising senior officers on information governance related issues
• Experience of reviewing and drafting information governance related policies, procedures and guidance accurately interpreting legislation, case law and best industry practice.
• Experience of managing and implementing projects as well as client expectations whilst working to deadlines
