We are looking for a Principal Hydrogeologist to join our Environmental Compliance and Ground Engineering Team.

Purpose of Role:

Responsible for managing Water Science (Hydrogeology/Hydrochemistry) within the SW Environment Team. Acts as a Project Manager, contributing to the success of the office through effective project delivery, developing key client relationships, and securing new business.

Key contacts and relationships

Internal:

  • SW Environment Team Section Heads and Directors
  • Associated Technical teams across the Region and Division
  • Support Functions (Finance, HR, Bids, Marketing)

External:

  • Existing and New Clients
  • Environment Agency
  • Natural Resources Wales
Key responsibilities
  1. Plan, review, and manage projects ensuring client requirements and deadlines are met according to QA standards.
  2. Accountability for project performance and finances.
  3. Quality control of project outputs, including project plans and fee agreements.
  4. Provide quality advice and ensure work meets standards.
  5. Contribute to business development, including work winning and marketing.
  6. Provide regular reports to the Technical Director.
  7. Support client management alongside Directors.
  8. Manage timesheets and holidays for responsible staff.
  9. Coordinate with other section heads and Directors to deploy staff and resources effectively.
  10. Undertake staff appraisals and development, supervise junior staff where relevant.
