We are looking for a Principal Hydrogeologist to join our Environmental Compliance and Ground Engineering Team.

Purpose of Role:

Responsible for managing the Water Science (Hydrogeology/Hydrochemistry) within the SW Environment Team. Acting as a Project Manager, you will contribute to the success of the office through effective project delivery, developing key client relationships, and securing new business.

Key contacts and relationships
  • Internal: SW Environment Team Section Heads and Directors, Technical teams across the Region and Division, Support Functions (Finance, HR, Bids, Marketing)
  • External: Existing and New Clients, Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales
Key responsibilities
  1. Plan, review, and manage projects ensuring client requirements and deadlines are met according to QA standards.
  2. Take accountability for project performance and finances.
  3. Ensure quality control of project outputs, including preparing project plans and fee agreements.
  4. Provide quality advice and ensure work meets standards.
  5. Contribute to business development, including work winning and marketing.
  6. Provide regular reports to the Technical Director.
  7. Support client management alongside Directors.
  8. Manage staff timesheets and holidays.
  9. Coordinate with other section heads to optimize staff and resource deployment.
  10. Undertake staff appraisals and support junior team members.
