Job description

Job Description – Principal HVAC Engineer – hybrid (EST0004LJ)

We are seeking a Principal HVAC Engineer to join our team in Stockton. The role involves supporting the HVAC Capability team in all aspects of HVAC and Building Services, preferably with knowledge and experience in nuclear standards and processes, specifically the delivery of HVAC system design or modifications. The candidate should be client-facing and demonstrate confidence as a subject matter expert, supporting all stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing ventilation systems based on basic principles and containment philosophy
  • Producing HVAC system design deliverables, including specifying heat rejection plant such as air/water cooled condensers, heat pumps, and heat recovery systems
  • Designing HVAC systems for cooling industrial process environments
  • Creating system schematics and Engineering Flow Diagrams (EFDs)
  • Preparing psychrometric calculations
  • Utilizing industry-standard software such as Hevacomp, Revit, and Pipenet
  • Possessing a degree in Building Services Engineering or HND with extensive industry experience
  • Having thermal modelling experience (advantageous)
  • Understanding of EG_0_1738_1 – Ventilation of Radioactive Areas
  • Demonstrating experience in a regulated industry environment
  • Understanding of AutoCAD capabilities

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Building Services Engineering or equivalent with extensive experience
  • Experience with HVAC design, especially in nuclear or regulated environments
  • Proficiency with relevant software tools
