Job summary

AtkinsRéalis PES Practice in the UK seeks a Principal Engineer or Associate Director specializing in high‑voltage cable design to join our team. Lead multidisciplinary delivery across HVAC/HVDC projects, provide design assurance and strategic oversight.

You will set technical delivery strategy, chair design and hazard reviews, and mentor engineers while engaging clients and partners. Hybrid working with travel to sites; Glasgow based options available.

Qualifications

• Experience leading HV cable design and engineering on major transmission projects.
• Ability to influence clients and guide multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of IEC, CIGRE, ENA standards and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and design assurance for HV cable systems.
• Lead route assessment, thermal modelling, and installation considerations.
• Chair design reviews and hazard reviews, ensuring records and risk management.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and project teams to deliver compliant solutions.
