WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Principal Engineer for the Liveable Places team in Reading. The role focuses on pre-design and detailed design of highways, active travel and public realm schemes, balancing technical leadership with collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

The position is based in Reading with hybrid in-office and home working. You will lead technical design, ensure compliance with MfS/DMRB/TSRGD/LTN guidance, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with structures,

Qualifications

Chartered or near Chartered Civil Engineer.
Extensive experience in UK highways and public realm design.
Ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and mentor others.

Responsabilités

Lead pre-design development and detailed design for highways, active travel, road safety and public realm projects.
Act as technical lead and checker ensuring compliance with UK standards and best practice.
Coordinate designs across highways, drainage, transportation and public realm with disciplines like structures and environment.
Support junior staff through technical leadership and mentoring.
