The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Principal High-Speed Digital Electronics Engineer to join the GCAP development team at Leonardo, working at either the Edinburgh or Newcastle site. GCAP is an exciting new project developing a radar sensor. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team across the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements to delivery. This is a great opportunity to join a growing program with a highly skilled team.

What you’ll do as a Principal High-Speed Digital Electronics Engineer

• Design high-speed digital PCBs using FPGA, microprocessors, and high-speed interconnects
• Support the hardware lifecycle from requirements analysis to final delivery and acceptance testing
• Document work products and manage configuration control
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to solve complex system integration problems

What we need from you

• Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or related science (Physics), e.g., BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD
• Experience analyzing system requirements and applying them to hardware design
• Schematic capture experience
• Design of high-speed serial links and protocol knowledge
• Hardware, firmware, and software integration experience with microprocessor-based designs
• Structured approach to hardware design lifecycle
• Debugging, testing, and verification skills
• Ability to liaise with suppliers and communicate across disciplines
• Effective time management skills

Security Clearance
