Job summary

WSP Global Inc. in Cambridge or Bristol is seeking a Principal Consultant to lead archaeology projects in the South East. You will manage fieldwork programmes, develop bespoke strategies, and oversee bids and client relations within a busy heritage consultancy.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, and commercial acumen while supporting team growth and service diversification. Strong experience in archaeology, planning processes, and heritage legislation, with excellent writing and communication

Qualifications

• Experience managing archaeology fieldwork projects and teams.
• Strong knowledge of Ireland archaeology, planning process, and heritage legislation.
• Ability to lead bids, tenders, and stakeholder liaison.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Able to deliver within deadlines and budgets in a consultancy environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assure the work of one of our WSP-approved fieldwork subcontractors, on-site and in technical reviews of deliverables, including RAMS.
• Prepare competitive tenders and design scope/methodology for archaeological fieldwork per Health and Safety protocols.
• Produce or contribute to archaeological desk-based assessments.
• Undertake stakeholder, curator and client liaison.
